In the backup host I added to hosts file, the entry for the VirtualCenter server and for the VM. In the snapshot options, the parameter "Trasnsport type" was set "nbd", and I already try with the value "try all types". The folder C:\Windows\Temp\vmware-system is empty. NetBackup Client Service uses a local system account. I already try some solutions I found posted on several symantec pages like: "Error opening the snapshot disks using given transport mode: Status 23." First, the snapshot of the virtual machine was created, then the tape was mounted and "begin writting" but the data transfer never start and a error came out: It says above 7500KB, actual used is 9617KB. Description: Alarm 'Datastore usage on disk' on SataDatastore changed from Gray to Red. The summary shows tallies for the total number of disks, disks in use, spare. Alarm Definition: ( Yellow Metric Is above 7,500KB Red Metric Is above 8,500KB) Current values for metric/state: Metric Space actually used 9,617KB. ![]() Then, I ran the backup and everything looked good. Each section heading displays a summary of the storage configured for that section. After I set the correct paths, the issue was solved and the policy validation was ok. The problem was that in the vm.conf the libraries path were pointing to a unix location not a windows location. NetBackup does not support the backup or restore of NVRAM and vTPM for the virtual machines whose display names begin with a period ('.'). Supported recovery methods include Full VM recovery and VMware Instant Recovery. "Snapshot could not be created with VMware method." A NetBackup 8.3 or later backup or recovery host is required for NVRAM and vTPM protection.
